Giant Steps will give you a taste of genres of classical and jazz along with artists who have evolved from these two styles which include bossa nova, acid jazz, world electronica. Classical artists include: -Ravel -Rachmaninoff -Prokofiev -Stockhausen -Haydn -Chopin -Gershwin -Ligeti -Steve Reich Jazz artists include: -Bill Evans -Thelonious Monk -McCoy Tyner -Cecil Taylor -Blue Mitchell -Robert Glasper -Avishai Cohen -Geri Allen Some examples of world music inspired by these artists include: -Casker -clazziquai -Humming Urban Stereo -Olivia Ong In between tracks, DJs Elise and Scott offer stories and insights from their experience performing in these genres. Programs often highlight themes and stories present in the music. Recordings of UTD performances will be included in the programs.
