I would like to say very kind things about Fool’s Gold and their new self-titled release. Indeed, I could find a great many kind things to say about this tropical soul-pop ensemble: they are bright, fun, and simultaneously familiar and original with their sound. Sadly, I cannot praise this album without listing its flaws, of which there are many (and many of them, grievous). (more…)

In case you haven’t heard, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is a one man indie rock sensation from California. His real name is Owen Ashworth, and he is a film school drop out who decided to take up music after realizing that it was a cheaper and easier medium to tell stories than through film.
