March 30th, 2009 by Stuart McAfee
Hello Lovelies!
With the recent gaping hole in content caused by midterms and Spring Break, we’re taking the opportunity to re-think the way we do updates here. Album reviews, among other things, will return next week.

Black Lips - 200 Million Thousand
March 12th, 2009 by Tabatha Patterson
Black Lips
200 Million Thousand
Rating: 7.6/10.0
Recommended Tracks: 5, 10, 13
RiYL: King Khan and the Shrines, Times New Viking, The Black Keys
Setting ridiculous stage antics aside, one must admit that The Black Lips’ recent album 200 Million Thousand presents a multifaceted take on lo-fi, punk-inspired tunes. Rating: 7.3/10.0
Recommended Tracks 3, 7, 8, 9
RiYL: Cat Power, Mazzy Star, Goldfrapp
With the number of official albums released reaching double digits, Mirah’s newest album, (A)Spera, shows all the characteristics you would expect from a veteran indie female pop act. Released on the legendary K records based in Olympia, which has nurtured such artists as Bikini Kill, Modest Mouse, and The Blow, the whispy and sparse soundscapes of Mirah’s latest album proves that the label, and their artists truly are masters of their craft. Many people had told me that Cut Copy’s shows were amazing, and that attending their show would be similar to going to one huge dance party. (more…)
