I came into this review knowing next to nothing about the Mae Shi other than they were a noise band. From doing some quick research I have come to find out that this is their 4th album and their first with the new singer, Jonathan Grey. This album is a concept album with different songs talking about God. The theme is very enjoyable to watch as it evolves through differing points of view, including all extremes. (more…)

Beach House’s debut release self titled record came out in October 2006 and was given lots of attention in the indie universe. I randomly picked up on it through a friend and watched some videos on Youtube before I recognized its glory. Songs like “Apple Orchard” and “Master of None” will always have a special place in my heart. (more…)

I really should like Afterparty Babies more than I do.

Rollie Pemberton, or Cadence Weapon when behind the microphone, mixes lush, electronic beats with inorganic notes, and surprisingly for a Hip Hop album, avoids a strong bass line. More so Aphex Twin than Timbaland. Still, it’s approachable enough so you can bust out those vintage Nike Dunks for some off court fancy footwork on the dance floor. (more…)
