If you know anything about Man Man, then you already know that their shows are absolutely crazy. I wanted to write a hefty paragraph to kick off this post, but there really isn’t much to say. The venue was amazing, the staff and bands were incredibly nice, and Man Man nearly caused a riot, as usual. Their new material was some of the most lively and spirited in the show, featuring noticeably more toms than usual. The Extraordinaires, who we had never seen before, sounded like a hybrid of the Pixies and the decidedly silly local band Fishboy; a fitting and enjoyable opener. Their greatest crowd-pleaser was a Rudolph-the-reindeer-esque story about a cactus that’s addicted to high-fives. Hmmm… (more…)

Figurines In-Studio Cancelled!

The Figurines in-studio has been cancelled, much to our chagrin. Because of CMJ, it has been nearly impossible to get in contact with anyone. Attempts to contact the Figurines’ promoter for the particulars on the interview ended in disappointment and frustration. Finally, we asked the label if they could help us out, and were given the prompt and friendly reply:

“Hi [Radio UTD]. We were never able to confirm with fanatic as the tour vehicle has caused Figurines to miss one show, and Christian losing his voice caused them to miss two. The band felt that doing the in-studio would be too much, and we let fanatic know that on Wednesday. Very sorry you were not informed. Happy to guest list you or anyone from the station.”

So, sorry folks… But a little birdie told me that we may have another sweet interview to compensate… Stay tuned!

Homecoming Parade

So, we made a pretty darling little homecoming float for the parade yesterday at UTD. It took about three days to finish, and was in front of the crowd for about thirty seconds. Josh Carter, one of our senior DJs, stood out of the sunroof and smoked, against his good taste. It was really cool.

Apologies for the weak trickle of bloggage lately. The bulk of our management team is out in New York at the CMJ festival, hopefully taking lots of cool notes and pictures to dump on the site later on.

Figurines In-Studio!

Danish pop band, The Figurines, are going to be in the Radio UTD studio this Saturday October 20th 2007. They will be on air, doing an interview as well as a short acoustic performance.
